However, current research is limited primarily to case studies, restricting the generalizability of those findings. The purpose of this study is to characterize speech language pathologists’ knowledge, document current assessment and intervention practices, and highlight both the reported frequency of WFD and uncertainty in its management. A total of 496 speech-language pathologists in the United States participated in an online survey consisting of multiple-choice and open-ended response opportunities. A cross-tabulation analysis of quantitative data showed that among the wide range of treatment approaches clinicians have tried, none stood out as more successful than others. Qualitative reports were analyzed with a reflexive thematic analysis. Major themes included co-existing conditions, linguistic behaviors, and nonlinguistic behaviors commonly reported alongside WFD.
